RESOLUTION NO. 2005-14
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF THE UPPER RED ROCK LOOP ROAD EXTENSION (EAST) AS AN ALTERNATE ROUTE SOUTH OF THE CITY CONNECTING HIGHWAYS 89A AND 179, AND AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF THE PROJECT TO NACOG AND VVTPO FOR FUNDING IN FY 2010
WHEREAS, the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) each two years considers requests for construction funding as recommended by the Verde Valley Transportation Organization (VVTPO), and
WHEREAS, the Upper Red Rock Loop Road Extension Project was ranked number one by the VVTPO technical committee this year, and
WHEREAS, the City of Sedona has had several discussions involving alternate routes south of the City to relieve traffic congestion and enhance emergency services, and this route is a variation of one which appeared in the November 1997 West Sedona North/South Off Highway Circulation Study as Southern Collector (Alternate “B”), and is similar to Alternate 5 in the ADOT SR 179 Corridor Study dated December 1992, and
WHEREAS, a Council resolution in support of this route will allow VVTPO to approve the technical advisory committee recommendations and be set for funding in FY 2010
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEDONA, ARIZONA:
That NACOG funding for the construction of the Upper Red Rock Loop Road Extension (East) as delineated in the map incorporated herein as Exhibit A has the support of the Council, and the project description, incorporated as Exhibit B, should be submitted to NACOG.
