It's more than 2,000 feet long (including approaches), 47
feet wide and 27 feet high above the flow line of Oak Creek.
To provide reasonable access, connecting roadways will have to
be straightened, widened and paved, at an estimated cost of up to $28 million dollars.
Rural neighborhoods will see, hear and smell an anticipated
7,000 to 10,000 vehicles a day running past homes and schools at 35 miles per hour.
Crescent Moon Ranch, a popular U. S. Forest Service recreation
area next to Red Rock Crossing, will lose the special peace and tranquillity that visitors
now experience.
